Not sure about voting?

The people who do not normally vote hold the key to this election! If you are one of 14 million people who registered but did not vote in 2017, YOU are one of the people who can decide who wins this election. If you did not vote last time, your opinion is not even showing up in national opinion polls, because polling companies routinely remove ‘non-voters’ from their tallies. But you can fool the pollsters! You are the ‘secret weapon’ that can turn this election around. Click here to pledge your vote.

There are lots of reasons why people don’t vote. They run out of time, they forget, they can’t get to the polling station, they are sick, they can’t be bothered…

There were also some other reasons why people specifically didn’t vote in 2017:

  • “Voting doesn’t change anything”
  • “They’re all the same”
  • “Politicians always make promises and then never deliver”
  • “Labour is just as bad as the Tories”
  • “I don’t like any of the policies on offer”
  • “My vote doesn’t count for anything”

Perhaps you had your own reasons for not voting in 2017. Perhaps you were not of voting age yet? But if you are not intending to vote in this coming election, or you are still unsure about it, please consider:

  • This election is not just about Brexit. It is not about who looks most 'Presidential'. And it is not about fine words and grand gestures.
  • Our survival as a planet is at stake. There are many other important issues to address, but first we have to survive.
  • What must be done to save the planet is not just a matter of personal preference or political opinion. It is a matter of science.
  • The science tells us we must cut our carbon emissions by 45% by 2030. That can only be achieved through a radical change of government policy, strict regulations and a major programme of investment in all-electric vehicles, all-renewable energy supply and fossil-free heating.
  • The science tells us we must reverse the growing disparity between the super-rich and the rest of us. That can only be achieved by making the super-rich pay their fair share of taxes, by creating millions of well-paid jobs in the green economy and by investing in the NHS, in schools and universities, in childcare provision, in public transport and in our other public services.
  • The science tells us we must join with the rest of the world to abolish nuclear weapons before it's too late.
  • Common sense tells us that a Conservative government will NEVER deliver these things that are now essential for our very survival.
  • A vote to survive is therefore a vote to bring about a change of government - to one that is committed to fully addressing these emergencies in the timescale required and with the resources required.
  • This election is like no other in your lifetime. The outcome will affect you, your family and generations to come.
  • This election could be lost or won on a handful of votes. Your vote really does matter in this election, no matter where you live!
